GROOTERS - Mrs. Barbara M. Grooters aged 91 passed away Friday, April 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald M. Grooters; sons, Bruce and Steve Grooters; grandsons, Benjamin Grooters and Britt Latham; sister-in-law, Lois McDonald; brothers-in-law, Ralph Grooters, Charles Grooters, Don Williams. Surviving are her children, Susan (Britt) Latham, Jerry (Lisa) Grooters, Holly (Robert) Leach; daughter-in-law, Diana Grooters; 13 grandchildren, Stephen Grooters Jr., Jeffrey (Kim) Grooters, Randy (Holly) Grooters, Rick Grooters, Stephanie (Michael) Baker; Tammie (Phil) Spetoskey, Gerald “Jack” III (Stacie) Grooters, Brittany (Robb) Hofstra, Brady Grooters, Tiffany (Fred) Rose, Taylor (Josh) Dreps, Carl (McKell) Grooters, Alli (Michael) Fish ; 30 great grandchildren, Tristan (Jessika) Grooters, Tarra Grooters, Justin (Michelle) Grooters, Kaitlyn (Justin Shoemaker) Grooters, Kennidi Grooters, Jessie Grooters, Gage Hyboer, Ethan Hyboer, Dustin Grooters, Ella Grooters, Josie Barnick, Kelsey Latham, Colby Latham, Breylyn Latham, Jacob Latham, Kendra (fiancé Johnney Gee) Coalter, Brandon Coalter, Nick Coalter, Amber Coalter, Cody Coalter, Joey Hofstra, Pippi Hofstra, Thatcher Hofstra, Christian Rose, Rose, Noah, Nevi Rose, Amelia Rose, Greyson Grooters, Croix Fish, Radyx Fish, Marek Fish; great great grandchildren, Jade, Brooke, Amber, Eden, Jordan, Jackson and two on the way; sister, Patty Williams; sisters-in-law, Adlaide (David) Gleason; nephews, Mike Williams, Don (Merry-Lyn) Williams, Mark Williams and several additional nieces and nephews. Barbara proudly served in the US Navy “Waves” during WWII. A Special thank you to her caregivers Luanne Hill, Carol Fairchild and Madeline Crawford for their wonderful care and friendship. Also, thank you to the staff and caregivers at Grant Fountain View Retirement Home and StoryPoint. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at First Congregational Church of Rockford, 192 E. Bridge St. NE. Her family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 5PM to 8PM at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel - Belmont, 1601 Post Dr. NE., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Church. Graveside services will be held at 2PM at Idlewild Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Sorry I cannot be with you during this important time. Doctor say's no travel alone.I remember aunt Barbara as a loving caring woman with a strong backbone and advocate for her family.
