Carolee was a wonderful coworker during our time together at the Michigan Primary Care Association. She was a joy to have as a colleague, always cheerful, and a great encourager. She loved her work, loved people, and loved adventure. She will be missed.

An old memory I have of Carolee was in the early 80's when I first met her at Butterworth. She was running and cycling which I admired. I wanted to get into biking so we made arrangements to bike from her apartment on Fuller out to Ada via Fulton. It was a great ride in what was a very rural area at that time. She later sold me her 10 speed Schwinn so she could upgrade to a Fuji. My lifelong love of cycling is partially due to her.

I so loved Carolee, she was a wonderful nurse and co-worker. We worked together at MDHHS and I will always remember her as a smiling, kind, excellent soul. She was very dedicated to public health and immunizations. She will be very missed.  Good bye Carolee, you were an awesome public health nurse, the world was a better place because of you,  Terri Adams, RN

I worked at the Health Department with Carolee in Grand Rapids while my husband was in training there (1985-1989). Our desks were next to each other which we very much enjoyed. Some years ago when she came to Atlanta for a conference, I met her for dinner. We had such a lovely evening!  I was so saddened today to read of her death. When I read the names of her family they were familiar to me—I could hear her talking about you all in my mind! She loved you so! I also was reminded today of the Meyer family—-what a blessing you were in her life.  I am thankful that my path crossed with Carolee's in this life—-she was a very good friend. I pray for comfort from our Heavenly Father for all of you who loved her. She will be missed.  DeLynn Dindoffer

I met Carolee on STS in Mexico when I was a student. Then visited her in Portland, Oregon and we drove to Sunnyside,Washington where I met her family. When she came to Grand Rapids, Michigan I remember the time she had a appendicitis attack and my father took to the hospital. We laughed about that years later.  I remember her loving , gentle, kind ways. I'm glad our paths crossed. "Praise God from whom all blessings flow"!

I lived next door to Carolee for about 10 years. She was a wonderful neighbor, always happy and kind to my cats that would sneak onto her balcony. I am truly sorry for your loss.  Anne-marie K. Milbourn

Carolee was an inspiration to me when I(we) were trying to improve immunization practices at our community health centers. She was so good at explaining and encouraging best practices for children and adults. She had a special spot in her heart for care given to our migrant farm worker patients. I used "Carolee's Corner" power point presentations to educate my staff on proper immunization techniques, vaccine schedules, vaccine storage, etc. - she wrote usable, understandable information that helped many nurses and medical assistants learn about best practices. I have missed her in the FQHC world since her retirement. She will continue to be remembered - and will now "guide" from above!  Lisa Burnell, RN - Vice President of Clinical Services at Great Lakes Bay Health Centers - Saginaw, MI

Carolee was a fun friend whom I met at Rehoboth Christian Hospital In Gallup, NM. We seemed to click in many ways. Whether it was sun bathing at the community pool and listening to music, or fussing with her curly hair. She trusted me with driving her brand new 240-Z on our way to White Sands National Park. We hiked together, shopped in Albuquerque, and had so much fun spending our hard earned money, loved eating lamb stew and fry bread doused with honey. Carolee was a genuine friend, and embraced our family by coming to our kids open houses. God saw fit to release her from the pain of cancer, and took her to Himself where I will see her again in Heaven. I love the memories, I love you, my friend! Evie (Helms) Afman
