GROTEWOHL- George Thomas Grotewohl aged 64 passed away October 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison James Grotewohl; mother, Betty Jane Dixon; step father, George Dixon. Surviving are his siblings, David James Grotewohl, Laurence Grotewohl, Loretta Greco; sister in law Diane Grotewohl; nieces and nephews, Harrison James, Herbert Allen, Alexander, Heidi, Andrew; great nephew, Tazzik. George was a happy, kind spirited man who always had a positive outlook on life. His laugh was contagious! George deeply cared for his family and recently moved to Grand Rapids to be closer to them. He knew his movie/actor trivia better than anyone else and enjoyed challenging his family. He had a passion for puzzles and loved his cats. No matter his restraints or whose birthday it was, George made his way to the store to get a card to mail, and signed “GROG”. We love you Georgie! You will be missed dearly. I will never forget going to the airport in the middle of a blizzard in Muskegon to go pick up him and his mom because their flight was cancelled. He was so friendly and funny. I loved his laugh. That night was the first time I met him. He was such a nice man. I loved watching him and Loretta interact. Love and mutual respect. I am glad he decided to move to GR and had these last two years to be close to family. RIP. You will be missed.

I was George's care giver in Petoskey. We became instant friends the minute I walked in the door. He was so much fun to be around. I couldn't wait for "Georgie" days. His laugh was contagious…he was just a sweet heart. He is greatly missed. We stayed in touch by phone after he moved. My condolences to you the family. I know how very much he loved you all. I remember taking him to the bus stop to go visit you all on holidays. Sincerely, Ella Kerner
