The Activity Department has not been the same this week without Gordon. He was one of my most faithful participants; I could always count on him to keep me on my toes. At the end of every activity, he would say, "Good show, Kim… as usual!" He was the king of one liners as well. If he came to an activity and he noticed he was the only man he would say, "I do not have enough cleavage to be in this room." His number one question was, "Is there a snack?" It got to be a standing joke that he would only come if there was food involved and the others teased him about it all the time. Yesterday we had root beer floats. I could almost hear him saying, "Do you have anything else? I do not like root beer." Well, in his honor, I did buy ginger ale and put it in the middle of the serving table. Gordon loved music, history and unusual activities. He was a rabid MI fan and was known to lead the MI fight song during our annual MI/MSU State game. My, but I miss that smile and inquiring mind! He was truly a gentleman, and he touched my life. I am thankful his fingerprints are forever on my heart! Kim Murphy, Activity Director Heron Manor/Heron Woods

We, the members of the mythical "Piotrowski Polish National Golf Club" knew this day would come, and we face it with both sadness and a sense of gratitude. One of the kindest and most cordial persons to ever pass our way has left us. The most senior of our members shared a friendship with this special man for close to a half century. Gordie started this weekly informal league of golfing buddies in 1959, the year I graduated from high school. Friends and clients shared rounds at various local courses, followed by a rollicking 19th hole with beer and burgers at some unimposing and out of the way emporium. Because most of the "club members" were working, the fun happened mostly on Saturdays for years, but as the guys aged, and one by one retired, the games and fellowship moved to weekdays. I joined as a "sub" for regular players in the mid-70's if memory serves, but could not wait to achieve full status, which came in the early 80's. Golf is inherently a frustrating game, but I think I speak for the other Piotrowski Golfers when I say that all the sputtering over missed shots was more than compensated for by the chance to spend quality time with good friends and an amazingly classy leader. He always seemed genuinely interested in our personal and professional lives as well, and appreciative of any kindnesses. Our deepest sympathies to Jeff, John, Jean, Judy and other family and friends who knew and loved this man of good will and faith as we did. We take comfort that he experienced a full and interesting life. May he now be reunited with his beloved Winnie, and making plans to tee it up with Jack and Dick, two other group stalwarts who unfortunately also left us within the past six weeks. The annual Piotrowski Open Championship game in September and awarding of the "esteemed trophy" will be especially significant this year.  Dave DeBruyn For the Members of the Piotrowski Golf Group
