HIMMELSPACH - Amy Louise (Schoenherr) Himmelspach, born January 29, 1952, departed this world on August 25, 2019 to ascend to eternal life in glory with our Savior. She lived a beautiful life of love, joy, and creativity and now is free from the magnificent body that was overcome by ovarian cancer. Amy is forever grateful to Dr. Mae Zakhour and the nurses who compassionately battled with her in this final journey on earth. Amy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Anthony Himmelspach, her children, Samuel and Alicia (Cochrane) Himmelspach, Jacob and Leticia (Herrera) Himmelspach, Laura (Himmelspach) and Seth Powell, Brandon and Julia (Kerwin) Brooks; her grandchildren, Isaiah and Samuel Himmelspach, Monroe and Bennett Knight, Katelyn, Metzli and Nikko Himmelspach, Caleb Powell, Payton and Hudson Brooks; all her six siblings, Robert Schoenherr (Linda Mann), Candy Guerin (Eddie Wilson), Jeffrey (Cherie) Schoenherr, Susan Storm, Mary (Nick) Venechuk, and Ann Bates; and her in-laws, Edward Himmelspach, Ava Himmelspach, and Robert Whittaker. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Elizabeth Schoenherr; her brothers-in-law, John Bates, Joseph Himmelspach, Christopher Himmelspach; her sister-in-law, Susan Whittaker; her grandson, Elijah A. Powell. Amy was a sublime artist of life and love who intuitively and skillfully created family and friendships of immeasurable worth. The first words she planned to say in heaven: “Grandchildren. Your best idea.” Amy was a unique spirit, a true HNL. To know Amy was a gift from God. My heart hurts to learn of Amy’s passing, but so happy that she is now in God’s loving embrace, reunited with those she’s loved and missed. So much of my childhood and youth centered around Amy and family. Parents that played together and we children that grew up together. Hundreds of stories to tell. Glorious young lives shared and so many wonderful memories. Thanks to God for the precious memories and for Amy’s life. Hugs of love and sympathy to all of you who were also blessed. Phidge

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Amy. I was a classmate of hers in Sturgis and fondly remember the slumber parties at the wonderful, huge Schoenherr house. She was a fun friend, with so much energy and full of spunk! To her family, I’m sending my thoughts in this hard, sad time. Know that your memories will keep that spirit for life alive.

Beautiful Amy, kind, creative, and talented. I admired her as a person of strength and hope, and it is incomprehensible to me that she is gone so soon. Like others, I still decorate our Christmas tree each year with her bread ornaments and think of her every time I do.  Tony, to you and your family, I pray for the peace of God that passes all understanding. She will always be with you in the communion of saints, but certainly you are going to miss her bodily presence.  Love and prayers,  Amy Linde

Dear family of Amy, my heart breaks for your loss. What a comfort to know she loves Jesus. Most of my memories of Amy took place many years ago when I was a teenager and friend of her sister, Mary. I seemed to spend a lot of time at their home at it was always special when Amy and Susie were on break from college and home for a while. Even then, Amy had a special light and beauty. She was so vivacious and talented. I always admired her.  Recently, only a few weeks ago, I wrote to Amy, sharing some thoughts and memories. Imagine my surprise when days later I returned from the mailbox with a letter from Amy. It was so lovely and thoughtful—and now resides with my special keepsakes.  Warm thoughts and prayers for her family,  Debbie (Hahn) Gorman

Amy,  I'll always remember how we shared stories about crafting, children and grandchildren. You were such a positive person, so full of life and energy; you had the best laugh and a wonderful sense of humor too! You made the world a better place, and you will be missed forevermore.  Love,  Julie Bylski

Every year I was married to Susan (almost 20) we had two Christmas trees! Our traditional tree and a tree completely decorated and exclusively dedicated to these beautiful bread ornaments! I learned that Amy made most or all of them! These were so special, that I was not allowed to touch them.  I would assemble both trees and add the lights, help decorate the traditional tree. I was not invited nor expected to help decorate the bread ornament tree! It was very special and very beautiful. These bread ornaments were very precious Christmas items in our household. I spent many days, years enjoying these on the tree at Christmas.  After Christmas I helped pack up the Christmas decorations, that was not a small job, Susan loved Christmas! The only thing I didn’t do was remove the bread ornaments from the special tree. I watched Susan carefully remove each ornament, wrap it in tissue and place it in the special ‚Äòhat box’ that was kept in special place, not with the rest of the decorations from Christmas.  Amy can Rest In Peace that her beautiful ornaments will continue to be displayed every year for many more years and that her ogre brother-in-law will not accidentally break or lose them. Before she passed away, she handed them to daughter Jennifer for safe keeping to be displayed by Jennifer at Christmas time. My guess is that Jennifer will eventually pass those on to granddaughter Molly, who will likely pass them on to her children. That would make Amy’s bread ornaments an heirloom!  Thank you Amy! Family Heirlooms are indeed a very rare thing in today’s world!  Love,  Bob
