GORSKI - Charles R. Gorski, aged 92 of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 18, 2019 after a long and courageous fight against cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Gorski and his brother, Paul “Bud” Gorski. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elaine R. Gorski (Anderson); children, Cynthia (Jerry) Poisson, Carolyn (Dan) Carter, Lynn (Bob) Berthiaume. Chuck and Elaine have five grandsons, Steven (Amber) Rademacher, Ryan (Amanda) Rademacher, Tyler (Kendra) Berthiaume, Daniel Berthiaume, Nick Poisson and four great grandchildren, Brady, Ollie, Bryson, and Indie. He is also survived by his sisters, Alberta “Bert” (Chet) Koprowski, Elizabeth “Libby” (James) Boldt; brother, J. William Gorski; brother-in-law, Charles (Helen) Anderson; sister-in-law, Regina Gorski; several nieces and nephews. Born on April 14, 1926, Chuck grew up in Grand Rapids and attended Creston High School where he eventually met the love of his life, Elaine. Chuck was a veteran of WWII and served the US Navy in the Pacific theater of combat. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Upon his return from serving his country, Chuck returned to Creston H.S. to get his degree and to meet Elaine which started a love story that has lasted a lifetime. Chuck and Elaine married on November 19, 1949 and raised three daughters creating a family of love, commitment, and as Chuck would say, lots of laughter. Chuck trained at Rapid Design and provided for his family as an accomplished engineer. Later, during his tenure at Kelvinator, he received a patent for one of the appliance component designs he completed. He would go on to finish his career in the die cast industry. After retiring, Chuck and Elaine traveled often and spent several winter seasons in Arizona near his brother, Bud, and sister-in-law, Regi. Chuck enjoyed his family and friends. He made us laugh with his infectious sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who love him. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 23 at The Parish of St. Jude’s, 1120 4 Mile Rd. NE, Grand Rapids.
