Donald Wier

WIER - Donald J. Sr. age 85, passed into his heavenly home Monday, July 15, 2019 after a six year battle with cancer and pain. Don was born in Comstock Park on January 16, 1934 to Maurice and Helen Wier. Don graduated from Comstock Park High School where he was an exceptional athlete in all sports. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Jr.; daughters-in-law, Wanda and Lori; brothers, Maurice and Earl Wier; sister Maryann Mosher. Don will be missed and remembered by his family: his wife of 66 years, Connie Wier; children, Ronald (Linda) Wier, Terry (Pamela) Wier, Helen (Richard) Emerson; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother, David (Diane) Wier; special daughter-in-law, Jodi Lewis. During Don’s life there were many fishing trips, deer hunting trips, and golf games with many wonderful friends. He coached Little League. Every year he maintained a large productive garden and shared produce with many people in his community and his doctors. He drove a bus for seniors and brought seniors to dialysis. After his retirement, Don worked at a horse farm and for a local grocer as a meat cutter. Don attended church faithfully all of his life until cancer kept him at home. In his younger days, he served as a layman and elder and Bible camp counselor. Currently, Don and his wife are members of West Cannon Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. The family will greet relatives and friends 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday and 9:00 to 10:00 AM Friday all at the funeral chapel.
