I am so sorry for your loss. Dave ("Mr. Barney") was a frequent visitor to our home and pool while we were growing up. No trip downtown was ever complete without a stop at "Barney's Store." He is a part of many fond memories. I wish I had known about the gathering, because I certainly would have been there. You and he are in my thoughts and prayers. - Jessica Swartz

I got to know David through the old Wednesday Night Men's Basketball Group. We played at the old Ottawa Hills. Dave was always fun to be around and besides basketball I enjoyed some of the talks we had about life in general. He was one of the good guys and I was fortunate to have known him.

Grand Rapids and the world have lost a true gentleman & class act in Dave Barney. I got to know and respect Dave starting in 1968 when I moved from Lansing to GR , when he was managing the Redwood & Ross clothing store. Upon his opening his own shop (F David Barney) I naturally followed. He never failed to have a smile on his face and was a true friend. My sincerest condolences go out to his entire family.Bill Otto, Grandville
