DREW - Gilbert Martin Drew age 75 passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Drew; children, Dawn (Randy) Kropf, Darcy (David) Hood, Doug (Jenny) Drew; grandchildren, Carly (Justin) Jarvis, Colten Kropf, Easton Hood, Trenton Drew; father-in-law, Gordon Flanagan; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Gerritt) Schut, Debbie Flanagan, Beckie Washington, Shanon (Chuck) Hieftje; brothers-in-law, Norman (Shelly) Flanagan, Leo (Patti) Flanagan, Patrick (Tina) Flanagan, Paul (Anne) Flanagan. Gilbert was a “Master of All Trades”. He was the former operator and owner of Grand Rapids Plumbing Service which is now being run by his son, Doug. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 47 and 179. He participated in the Loyal Order of Moose in both Michigan and Florida. A Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 21 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. Gilbert’s family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A- Wish Foundation. Kathy so sorry to hear about Gill - he was truly a master of all trades and the patience to train us dumb apprentices - he was a very caring person. Brings back memories of the younger years. 40 years ago he was a bar tender at our wedding. Wished we could have known sooner. Andy & Beth Gort

Dawn, Darcy, Doug…...I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been gone from Michigan for so many years, I have not had much contact with any of the cousins. But I have so many memories from when we were younger. 😊 I remember when your dad came and helped my dad remodel the bathroom on Elm Street…all new plumbing and everything. It was fun watching them work together in such a small room. Your dad had a cool laugh, and he just twinkled when he laughed. 😊 Also, we would go to your parents' cottage once or twice each summer. Such fun! I also remember some creative decorating at their home….I believe they had a room that had carpet on the floor and on the ceiling! Very creative…..of course that was in the 60's or 70's. 😊 Anyway…...I'm sorry for your loss. Our dad passed at age 74. Both my dad and your dad died way too soon. Dear Kathy and family! I am so sorry for your lost! I know some days will be harder for you than others. I just want you to know that you're in my thoughts and prayers and that I'm wishing you all the comfort you need on the difficult days! Gil will certainly be missed by all who knew him! He was a great guy and we have had many laughs with him and alot of fun memories from school, car shows, camping & traveling. Even though I have not seen him for a while he truly will be remembered.
