Jacob William Diehm was received into his heavenly home on February 16, 2018 at Rosecastle in Zephyrhills, FL. Thanks be to God for our Savior Jesus Christ and His victory over death and the grave. Jacob was given life by his Creator and was born on September 9, 1919 in Boyne City, Michigan, the child of Leonard John Diehm and Dorathea Louise (Leupp) Diehm. On October 5, 1919, he received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On October 30, 1932, Jacob publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church, Boyne City, MI. He graduated from Boyne City High School in 1936. On May 23, 1949, Jacob received from God the gift of a beloved companion in marriage in his spouse, Harriet Eleanor Jorgenson. Together they were blessed with the gift of two children, Susan and Sharon. After graduation from high school, Jacob enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he had a distinguished career of 30 years. He served in WW II and the Korean War. After retiring from the Navy, he returned to college and graduated March 28, 1963 from Davenport College as Salutatorian of the Class with a degree in Accounting. Jacob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan for 58 years. Over the years he was very active in church activities. He was also an avid fisherman, wood worker, loved gardening & sang in the church choir. Jesus Christ was a very important part of their entire lives. He and Harriet spent many years in Bradenton Beach, FL during the winters. Family was very important to Jake & Harriet and much time was spent with the Diehm and Jorgenson families over the years. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. We do not live lives that end in death; we die deaths that end in life. Jacob is at home with Jesus to rest in His arms to await the resurrection of the dead at His second coming. He is survived by his wife Harriet; two daughters, Susan (Gary) Billow of Dorr, MI and Sharon (David) Cunningham of Zephyrhills, FL; one son, Timothy K. (Trina) (Diehm) Darcy of Long Beach, CA; granddaughter, Stephanie L. Darcy (Peter Santucci) & a great grandson, Alexander Darcy Santucci; as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
