STAFFEN - Jean Christine Staffen, 77, passed away on Saturday May 2, 2020 after a two year battle with cancer. Jean was born to Glen and Leona Ackerman on July 1, 1942 in Stanwood, Michigan. Jean met the love of her life when her school, Stanwood, merged with Morley High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from Ferris State in 1962 with a degree in cosmetology. She and Nyle married on June 8, 1963 and raised two children together in Comstock Park, MI. She spent many years as a 4H Leader sharing her love of horses and guiding and encouraging young people. She was an active member of Comstock Park Congregational United Church of Christ. Jean enjoyed 25 years of retirement with Nyle by spending time in Florida and at their beautiful home in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Jean loved spending time with her two children and four grandchildren. She was an extremely caring person who preferred to remain behind-the-scenes. She went out of her way to encourage others by sending countless cards and emails, sometimes weekly, just to let people know she was thinking about them and praying for them. Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Nyle Staffen; loving children, Doug (Vickie) Staffen and Darcy (Rob) Dame; grandchildren, Nathan Staffen, Alex Staffen, Joshua Dame, Madisyn Dame; brother-in-law, Larry (Joyce) Staffen; sisters-in-law, Janice (William) Lucas, Linda Huson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Leona Ackerman; sister, Glenda Lee Fosgitt. The family would like to thank Faith Hospice for their care, support and kindness to both Jean and the family during the past few weeks. There will be a memorial service to honor Jean’s life held at a later date. Where do I start, so many fun times and memories; camping trips when our kids were younger, especially one that took us almost 3 hours to get to Tubbs Lake only 17 miles away. Our trip to Cedar Point where we rode all the rides; especially the "Log Ride", Jean was in the front seat and had quite a shower when we hit the water. We stood in line time after time to ride the Blue Streak roller coaster. Fun times at family reunions and our trip to Branson, MO laughing at some stupid joke till our stomachs ached. So many good memories of a fantastic sister-in-law and very special member of our family. We will miss you Jean. All our love Nyle, Doug and family, and Darcy and family. Larry and Joyce

Nyle, Doug, Darcy and families, On behalf of all of your MacFarlane Cousins, words alone cannot express the heartbreak we all share with you. Jean was the most beautiful, kind and caring person that God could have blessed so many with and will never be forgotten. She loved to tell how her Mom Leona had named her after her country school student, our Mom Laura Jean, because she was so sweet…... Somewhere I have an old photo of young Mom pushing Jean down a dirt road in a carriage….... Mom used to say how happy she was when Jean married her cousin ... that they were a couple made in heaven…. she was right! All the Staffens and families are in our thoughts and prayers. With love, Shawn MacFarlane Jane and Jeff Pedelty Scott and Denise MacFarlane Monte and Janice MacFarlane and families
