Joan K. Halpin aged 76, of Kentwood, went to her heavenly home Monday, August 13, 2018. Joan was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Virginia McBain; sister, Patricia (Gary) Simmons; nephew, Samuel Simmons. She is survived by her children, Scott (Donna Donnelly) Halpin, Julie (Tim) Clay, Melissa (Bob Chambers) Halpin, Amy (Pete) Prather; grandchildren, Luke and Seth Halpin, Timothy (Molly) Clay, Jessica Rabourn, Connor and Oakley Clay, Taylor (Troy) Cervantes, Logan Davis, Quinten and Noah Prather; great grandson, Turner Clay; niece, Kandice (Shane) Timmerman; great niece, Adaela Timmerman. Special friends - Evelyn, Katie, Barb, Connie, Suzie and Janis. Joan’s greatest treasures were spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. Joan was a talented cook and baker, and took great pride in her flower gardens and enjoyed watching college and NFL football and loved reading mystery novels and a love for cats. Joan worked for Ace Hardware on 44th street for more than 13 years. A memorial celebration will be held at 7:00PM Monday, August 20, 2018 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel - Wyoming, 3131 S. Division Ave. Joan’s family will greet relatives and friends from 4-7 PM Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joan's name can be made to Crash's Landing & Big Sid's Sanctuary or National Kidney Foundation.
