I am not sure if you would remember me but I remember Mrs. Herrmann. I lived down the road on Dawson and have fond memories of Mrs. Herrmann’s cookies and her subbing in our Home Economics class (she always called on me to crack the egg). Rest in Peace Mrs. Herrmann.

A Wink From God (A tribute to Karen) Let me tell you a story Of how our friendship began, It was more than a coincidence It was God’s loving plan. We were shopping at Meijer Both in a hurry that day, I walked off with her cart Because God planned it that way. We called it a “God Wink” It was meant to be from the start, A special plan set up by our Savior To join heart to heart. We laughed and talked Like old friends having fun, The Lord shined his light on our friendship God’s will had been done. Our Father brought us together Not just for the day, We’ll meet again in Heaven One day, I pray! Love, Gail DeVillez

We are going to miss her terribly. Karen and I frequently beat the guys in marbles, much to our husband's disappointment! Game night was filled with laughter, stories and fierce competition. She made wonderful meals and even better desserts. She hemmed my curtains. A great example of a good friend, a loving wife and a gracious child of God. We are so very blessed to have known her these last three precious years. - Linda and Martin Lueders

Karen was an exceptional friend ! We laughed , cried and prayed for friends and family ! She always had kind words and encouraged us. We had many fun times in Connecticut and remained close even when she moved away. She will be greatly missed . Heaven is rejoicing !!

We had many interesting conversations with Karen. She was an intelligent person with many stories of her years as a teacher. It was a testament to her likability that a young lady of their acquaintance wished to spend a week with Doug and her every year. She and Doug also went out of their way to make a pair of foreign college students feel at home by having them to dinner in their home periodically. She will be missed by many. Dick and Joy Visser

My mom was one of my best friends. I remember most talking and walking. The thousands of conversations we had and the walks together outside, often hand in hand. Being with her 24/7 at hospice the last week was one of my biggest trials and greatest blessings. Fantastic wife, beautiful mother, loving sister, beloved grandmother. I look forward to walking and talking with mom in heaven one day.

Karen was such a special lady to me. I met her four years ago in BSF. She would often treat me to an outing at Fredrick Meijer Gardens, even giving me a ride when needed. I always appreciated her caring spirit and encouraging ways. She sure was disciplined, which was a great example also. Larry and I shared some brunches with she and Doug. My last memory of her was enjoying a concert this past summer in Rockford. We are so sorry for this tremendous loss and rejoice in the fact that she is now with Jesus and has a perfect body. We extend our deepest condolences to Doug, all of the family and to her many friends. Sincerely, Siobhain(shavon) Weston
