Grandma was so much more than Grandma to me. I was blessed to have her in my life for 37 years but 37 years just doesn't feel like enough.  Grandma would always make me cheese cake for Thanksgiving because she knew I hated pie and that cheese cake was just for me. I still laugh remembering the one year she didn't have time to make my cheese cake and bought one from the store. She put it into her own dish and tried to pass it off as her's. She must have forgotten she raised the smartest bunch of kids because all my aunts and uncle found the evidence and teased her for years after. Oh how i love that memory.  I remember baking cookies with her and the mixer caught on fire, she was mortified but those cookies did taste good. Years later when I did the same baking cookies with my own children we were in tears from laughing so hard. She taught me how to laugh at myself, one of the greatest gifts she gave us all.  The last few days with her on this earth were painful but in true Hodsdon form we had the time of our lives together by her side. I loved listening to my mom and her sisters start an impromptu song around her bedside that was full of love and laughter, just the way she loved. Her last days were spent with her greatest joy in life, family and friends. She was able to listen to her family talk, laugh, cry, and be together. Just the way you wanted it Grandma.  Thank you for always ending our conversations with I love you. I wish you hadn't gone so soon but I am so happy the last words I got to say to you were I love you because you were more than my Grandma, you were my friend. I will miss you for the rest of my life and I know that when I take my final breath you will be waiting to great me with the biggest hug.  Forever and Always yours, Tara

My husband and I, like countless other interns at Butterworth Hospital, knew Lori as part-time counselor and confidante, and full-time friend. Cherish the memories; we are grateful to have known her. DJ Longley

Surely Lori was an angel on earth. I met her on one of her trips to Cape Cod and her goodness, joy and love for everyone was apparent from the start. She blessed our family with little thoughtful gifts when she and Dick would visit Cape Cod. I am so grateful we had a chance to have a lovely dinner here with Lori and her family on her last trip here to Cape Cod bringing Dick's ashes to the place he also loved. Truly a beautiful woman and I feel so much pain at her passing, I hope I can always be inspired by knowing her to be half the person she was. Lori and Dick, Rest in Peace forever.

My cousin Retta was more like a sister to me. She was two months older than me and we shared many years together, we played all the time. I remember taking the Elston Avenue bus to Clybourn and walking over the river and then into the projects all the way to the end just to spend a weekend. We used to go to Riverview Amusement Park on two cent and five cent days too. Oh so many memories I have of my best friend!!! Rest In Peace Retta and a big hug to Dick when you see him! Luv Patsy

Lori-The world seems a little more empty with your passing. You were my other Mom. You are the reason I came to Grand Rapids. You opened your heart, your home, and your family to me. You were always my biggest supporter and saw things in me that I didn’t. Thank you to the Hodsdon family for sharing this incredible lady with me. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Until we meet again my friend, tell Dick I said hi . Cathy Puetz
