SCHUELLER - Mrs. Mary Irene Schueller, aged 90, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Schueller; siblings, Robert (Betty Ann) McCrackin, James (Patricia) McCrackin, Patrick McCrackin, Daniel McCrackin, Margaret Ann McCrackin. Surviving are her, children, Jerry (Darla) Schueller, Tom (Judy) Schueller, Judy (Bob) VanderZwart; Kathy (Mike) Fox, Colleen (Mike) Scott; grandchildren, Josh (Renee) Schueller, Andy (Hollie) Schueller, Brandon, Kyle, Adam (Sandra) Schueller, Robyne (Jim) Bailey, Troy (Vicki) VanderZwart, Ryan (Amy) VanderZwart, Megan (Tom) Keenan, Kara Fox, Emily (Drew) Lipski, Katelyn (Scott) Bush, Zack (Tori) Scott, Molly (Joe) Leone; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Dick (Carol) McCrackin; sisters-in-law, Sharon McCrackin, Ella McCrackin, Angie Schueller, Gladys Schueller; and many nieces and nephews. Mary has been a member of St. Jude Catholic Church since 1959. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Rd. NE. Interment Plainfield Township Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 7 PM Monday at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE and at the church, one hour prior to Mass. Prayers of the Rosary will be recited at 7PM Monday at the funeral chapel. Special thank you to Kindred Hospice and the staff at Boulder Creek Assisted Living. Deepest Condolences to the Schueller family. So much enjoyed going to the Scheller’s house on Hillsdale, when growing up. Irene always made me feel so welcome, invited to stay for lunch or dinner, whenever Tom asked, and did so many times, despite Irene & Jim already having many to feed. Irene always made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and having worth. I went to St Jude & Northview High School with my good buddy Tom, and Jerry (Darla), & Judy. That same type of “warm & fuzzy ” feeling I got from being around Jerry, too, so the qualities Irene demonstrated must have rubbed off. I recall Jerry hauling Tom & I around town, as he was driving and us not yet. Jerry always was fun, and made us feel we were of some worth, like Irene did. With all the bullying in high schools today, I tell people that I remember differently at Northview High School, as Jerry & his Senior class welcomed us with open arms as Freshman And, to this day, we can still name Jerry, and many from class, that we call friends. I admired Irene very much, as a Mom and as a person, she served as a role model to me, especially when growing up as a young man. My Mom & Dad liked me hanging out with Tom, because they too, admired Irene so much and had trust in her. They always talked highly of Irene and Jim. Irene wrote the book as to how to raise a great family, I have fond memories of her, and cherish the times I spent around her.
