WHEAT- Medell Wheat aged 100, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1992; daughters, Hazel Lee, Erma Cook; son, Charles Wheat; sons-in-law, James Evanczo, Tom Lee; grandson, Jason Wheat; 4 sisters and 7 brothers. Surviving is her daughter, Irene Evanczo; son-in-law, Wayne Cook; sister-in-law Doris Gibbs; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Medell attended Good News Baptist Church. Proud to have worked with the Voight family as their housekeeper and continued after the Voight house became a museum. A complete funeral service will be held 11AM Friday, August 2, 2019 at Good New Baptist Church, 6830 Eastern Ave. SE, Grand Rapids. Medell’s family will greet relatives and friends Thursday from 4PM - 6PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel 3131 S. Division Ave. and 10AM -11AM on Friday at Church. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. She was the best Grandma. She did things she didn't have do to. She help my mom raise me and my sister for a few years. Her and my grandpa help people when the need help. I remember one year they bought us a Christmas tree. I love you Grandma. Say hi to grandpa. I'll see you someday

There are so many memories with grandma. She was the most kind, compassionate and loving lady I have know. What she lacked in stature, she made up for by the way she treated others. My heart aches because I will miss her terribly. I find comfort in knowing we shall reunite again someday in Heaven. She was such a wonderful example to me. I always told her I wanted to grow up and be just like her! Grandma, I always saw "Jesus in you!" Thank you for being such a Blessing in my life!
