Elkins, Renee(Essie Likely) 3/3/1943 - 8/16/2017 Wyoming, MI Renee Elkins( Essie Likely) was born on March 3rd, 1943 to Willie B. Likely Sr. And Martha McCulley in Tyronza AK. She ascended into heaven on August 16th, 2017. She was a graduate of Central high school and continued her education to obtain her Doctorate in Divinity at the young age of 73. Renee professed Christ at the age of 9 and United with New Hope Missionary Baptist church under the pastorate of the late Rev. John V Williams. She later joined True Holiness under the leadership of Bishop White. Renee lived her life worshiping, praising and teaching the word of God. She loved the Lord, her family, church and community. She had prison ministry, ministered to the elderly, volunteered at Spectrum Health, and had a weekly telecast on GRTV. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie B. and Martha Likely Sr, brothers Willie B Likely Jr., George Likely Sr., Thomas Likely, sisters Queen Ester Johnson, Sylvia Henry, and Dorothy Likely. She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter Tina Jones, three sons Ken Jones III, Craig Jones, Brian(Dawn)Jones. Five grand daughters Monica Sturdivant, Brittany Jones, Brianne Jones, Jasmine Jones, Hanna Carter, two grandsons Brian Jones Jr and Jacob Jones. Three great grandchildren Messiah Sturdivant, Eris Cozzart, Erin Cozzart. Siblings Erobe Taylor, Clara(John)Hodges both of Chicago,IL, John Likely of Bay County, FL, Johnny(Marie)Likely, Eli Likely, Eugene(Linda)Likely of Grand Rapids,MI, one sister in law Veris Likely and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Service will be held at South United Methodist Church at 4500 S Division Ave on Tuesday, August 22nd. Family hour will be at 10am, service will follow at 11am. Viewing will be held at Stegenga Funeral Chapel at 3131 S Division Ave on Monday, August 21st from 6-8pm. Renee was always there in others time of need. She touch many life's through prayer. Their wasn't anything you couldn't call on her for that she wasn't willing to help with.
