Adam walked on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 when he began his journey home to be with many missed loved ones. Adam joined his Father Ronald Chivis baa, Stepfather Wallace Burfield baa, Sister Joan (Pablo) Bonilla baa, and little brother baby Chivis baa.

Adam was proud to be Anishinaabeg and Tribal Citizen of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians. He gave unconditional love towards everyone. He will be remembered for his big warm hugs and tender smile with his larger-than-life dimples. He will always be cherished for his loving Spirit and heart of a Warrior.

Adam was an extraordinarily gifted Artist who was always sketching something, using whatever materials he had available. His passion for drawing started at an early age, watching his Mother paint and Father create art in various forms including bead and quillwork. He loved creating family portraits of his children and proudly displayed those pieces as his body art. He enjoyed the simple things in life like gathering with family, sharing a good meal, and cheering on his favorite teams of the Detroit Lions, Pistons, and University of Michigan.

He will be lovingly remembered by his Mother, Patricia Mashka Burfield; his Children, Skye Chivis, Ashton Chivis, Alijah Chivis, Averon Chivis, Auriah Hunter, Maleiya Saboo, Mia Saboo; Sisters; Jennifer Gann (Mike Marquart), Becky Gann Rinehart, Tana (Gean) Alber; Brothers; Donald (Becky) Gann, Aaron (Summer) Chivis; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday 1pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming, with Michael Peters officiating. Burial will be held at Bradley Indian Mission Cemetery and Feast at Luella Collins Community Center. Relatives and friends may meet the family for visitation an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
