Alden Quist

Alden Quist, age 87, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 5, 2024. He was a content man who loved his family, word searches, and watching the Detroit Tigers. He was a faithful employee of Keeler Brass for 40 years and he and his wife were church custodians at Hillcrest CRC for 25 years. He also enjoyed driving for the Hudsonville Auto Auction for a number of years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Luella Quist; brothers, little Jay and Jay Quist; sister, Harriet Quist; father and mother-in-law,  Aukie and Clara Bouma; sisters-in-law, Wilma Quist and Pat Bouma; brothers-in-law, Cal Bouma, Erv Zeerip, and Harv Bouma; nephews, Brian Quist, and Dave Bouma; niece, Terri Brinks; and great-nephew, Kyle Quist.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Quist; children, Linda (Steve) Miedema, Dave (Vicki) Quist, Mary (Rick) Miedema, and Steve (Amy) Quist; grandchildren, Chase Miedema, Becky (Chris) Plantinga, Katelyn (Matt) Fortney, Andy (Colleen) Miedema, Alli (Bryce) Zuiderveen, Autumn (Luke) Wiersma, Nic (Ally) Quist, Nicole Quist, Blair (Abbie) Miedema, Megan (Chris) Huizenga, Gavin (Telissa) Miedema, Matt Quist; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Ken (Wanda) Quist; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Annette Bouma, Esther Zeerip, Betty (John) Bos, John (Joan) Bouma, Pat Shananaquet, Harold (Ann) Bouma, and Shirley Brinks; plus many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Matthysse Kuiper Degraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 5-8 pm. There will be a private burial at Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Funeral service for Alden will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd, Hudsonville.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to Unity Christian High School or Hudsonville Christian School.
