Alice Joan Keeling

Alice Joan Keeling (Cole), age 88, of Plainfield Township, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Keeling; grandsons, Matthew Keeling, and Nick DeBartolo; parents, Claude and Fern Cole; sisters and brothers-in-law, Claudine and James Pleune, Marjorie and Bill Glynn, Lois and Rick Jackson, and Roger Potts. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Susan and Al Lewis, Tom Keeling, Michael and Diane Keeling, Amy Stellini, Kelly and Jake Lewis, Kris and Ron Morden; nephew, Brian Lane; niece, Shari and John Williams; twelve grandchildren, Katie and Chris Leeder, Brooke and Joel Howell, Maddy Stellini, Zachary Bruursema, Jacob and Brandi Lewis, Cole and Katie Lewis, Hayden and Madison Lewis, Reed and Shelly Lewis, Austin Keeling, Tommy and Caitlin Keeling, Dylan and Kira Keeling, Nate and Natalie DeBartolo; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Potts; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Joan enjoyed doing puzzles, playing games such as Scrabble, working in her garden and cooking Sunday dinners for a house full of people. She also enjoyed shopping, especially thinking of others to shop for items they would enjoy. She could also play the piano and organ by ear. Joan was a motherly figure to many people. She will be dearly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at St. Jude Parish, 1120 4 Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids, with coffee and desserts following Mass in the Brophy Room. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, August 16, from 6-9 p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont and one hour prior to Mass on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Paws with a Cause or the Humane Society of West Michigan.
