I came across Bert's obituary this afternoon while web surfing. During the late 1950s, my Calvin years, I was quite closely connected to the home in which Bert lived, including renting a room there. I have fond memories of the entire family. Ken Van Dellen (American House, Wyoming, MI)

I had the honor and privilege of getting to know Bert and Mary while volunteering at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods. They were a beautiful couple and I so enjoyed hearing stories of Burt teaching and artwork. It was also great getting to know Mary and hearing about their family and friends. I will miss them both dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Bert, I hope your painting up in heaven I can’t wait to get there to see it all!!!
