Betty and Milton have been friends of the Holman and Anderson families for a VERY LONG time. The Andersons first knew them when they came to Grand Rapids tor Wayne to attend seminary. He eventually became their pastor in the late 50's at Newhall Baptist Church. I came to Newhall myself because my parents met the Ubbinks at a conference in 1972. Fast forward to my seminary days, when I came to Newhall to establish a home. For the first two years I was single, hoping and planning to marry Kris. From the Fall of 1977 til the Spring of 1979, I was invited for Sunday dinner nearly every other week to the Ubbinks. I seem to remember beef and potato rolls. Betty made some arrangement with Gram Kaatz that they would take turns keeping an MK seminarian alive each Sunday. Fast forward again to 1999 when Milton was instrumental in getting me to be the pastor at Newhall. During the 9 1/2 years I served there, Milton and Betty were a constant support and encouragement. Betty was constant, faithful, wise, and practical. She and Milton cared deeply for missions, the local church, and the Word of God. I thank God for how they invested in my life. To Carol, Dirk, and Beth, she has left a godly legacy for you, your children, and your grandchildren. I can hear her say, "Oh, there's no need to make a big fuss!" May God comfort your hearts today! Betty was a wonderful friend, for so many decades, of my parents, Wayne and Evangeline Anderson. My memories of her smile and her laugh are so vivid in my mind this evening. It is hard to describe the joy, the fun and the energy she brought to the work that Milton, Betty, Wayne and Vangie did together at Newhall. What a blessing she was. We pray for her and for Milton at this time, knowing that she is safe and secure in the arms of the Lord. Joe Anderson
