Clarence “Skip” DeBoer

December 30, 1941 ~ February 15, 2025

Clarence “Skip” John DeBoer Jr., age 83, of Grandville, slipped away from his earthly home and is now welcomed to his Heavenly home on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Skip was a man of quiet strength, who loved his family well. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, fishing, and reading. If his family had to choose a single word to describe him, it would be steadfast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gezina DeBoer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Jean DeBoer; children, Julie and Mike Kloosterhouse, Randy and Faythe DeBoer, Marc and Shelly DeBoer; grandchildren, Nick and Jennifer, Aubrey and Scott, Alyssa and Charlie, Alex and Lauren, Josh and Monica, Madelyn, Luke and Anna, Jack, and Jaeger; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy and Dave Baker, Mary DeBoer; and brother-in-law, Bob and Muriel Renzema. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 11 a.m. at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Michael Ten Haken officiating. The burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sunset Senior Communities - Rose Garden.

I worked at Grandville Printing with Skip. He was always consistent in demeanor, friendliness, work ethic. He was quite a pressman- it was interesting to watch him work as he took great care to produce a perfect product. He was a great example of excellence, kindness and patience. I always admired Skip and am honored to have known him.

Fondly remember Skip when growing up on Elwood St. in Grandville. Skip was 4-1/2 years older but he was always kind and friendly to us younger kids on the block. Condolences to the family. Pete VanTil.
