Dale S. Gaunt, age 95, of Grandville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Dale was born and raised in Grandville, MI and he attended Sunday School as a boy. He later went on to graduate from Grandville High School and entered the USMC Reserve before transferring to the United States Air Force serving in Korea and Japan as Staff Sergeant. He was selected to take the entrance exam for West Point Military Academy. Dale worked as a tool and die maker for 30 years at General Motors. Throughout his time at General Motors, he also taught mathematics for Grand Rapids Community College in their apprenticeship program. He was elected as shop committeeman and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Local 730. Dale was a skilled negotiator and was a member of the union’s negotiating committee who took part in many contract negotiations. Later in life, he was president of the Meadowbrook Park Homeowners Association in Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Blake Friar; great-grandson, Oliver Tetro; brother, Howard Gaunt, and Roy and Carolyn Gaunt. Dale will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Gloria; children, Kathleen and Steve Spielbauer, Diane and Matthew Friar, Marcia Wilson, Brett Gaunt; seven grandchildren: Danielle and Nathan Murphy, Kyle and Sylvia Friar, Abrey and Matt Tetro, Paul and M.J. Spielbauer, Emily and Russell Ankenbrandt, Katie and Matt Hohenberger, Veronica Reyes; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Norman Gaunt and Gerry Stockwell; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, 2350 44th St. SW with Pastor Darryl Larson officiating. Burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday from 10-11 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
