David C. VeNard, age 64, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away on May 2, 2025, due to injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born on December 8, 1960, in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Dan II and Shirley (Beach) VeNard. David graduated from Grandville High School in 1979 and married Annette in 1988. Together, they had two sons, Erick and Aaron VeNard.
David had a long career in industrial supervision, most recently working at Grand Rapids Foam Technologies. In 2002, he received the “Challenger’s Award” from the IWF for designing and patenting an infinitely adjustable hold-down unit for machine molding equipment. David was a skilled woodworker and had a passion for restoring antiques. He was also an accomplished artist with aspirations to enter Art Prize 2025. His artwork included interpretations of Biblical scenes, fantasy images, and animal drawings, which will be cherished.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Annette (Westphal) VeNard; son, Chief Petty Officer Erick (Brigitte) VeNard of Visalia, CA; grandchildren, Benjamin, Michael and Victoria VeNard; son, Aaron VeNard of Zeeland, MI; brother, Dan (Marva) VeNard III of Grandville, MI; sister, Sharon VeNard of Jenison, MI; father-in-law, Richard (Melissa) Westphal of Battle Creek, MI; brothers-in-law, Ryan (Tracey) Westphal of Wyoming, MI, and Kyle (Linda) Westphal of Cedar Springs, MI; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. David was preceded in death by his father, Dan VeNard II; his mother, Shirley (Beach) VeNard; and his younger brother, Roger VeNard.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 7, from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, May 8, from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery immediately following the funeral service followed by a reception at Bauer Community Fellowship at 4852 Bauer Rd, Hudsonville, MI 49426.
