Dennis G. Dykhouse, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024. He proudly served his country in the Naval Reserve and served with the Grand Rapids Fire Department for over 28 years. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, and gardening. He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Anglican Catholic Church. Dennis was very patriotic and loved his country, community, and sports teams like the Detroit Red Wings, and Michigan football. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Marilyn Dykhouse; and stepmother, Mary Dykhouse. Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren, Dave and Karen Dykhouse (Kyra, Hailey, Trevor, Ariana, Cadence, Braxton, Graham, Paisley, Oaklyn, Thatcher), Lisa and Josh Gies (Sam, Josie), Jeff and Allison Dykhouse (Ella, Anna), and James Dykhouse; siblings, Deb and Randy Bailey, Richard and Julie Dykhouse; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at St. Paul’s Anglican Catholic Church, 2560 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, Grand Rapids, 49504 with Deacon Charles Buitendyk officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday, August 9, 2024 from 5-8 pm at GR FireHall, 1930 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, 49505. An additional hour of visitation will be held starting at 10 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grand Rapids Firefighter Charity Fund.
