Donald Nelson, age 75, of Sanford, MI, formerly of Wyoming, MI, passed peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. After coming home, he worked many jobs before retiring from Steelcase after about 23 years. He loved the outdoors, had a great sense of humor, and had a strong work ethic which he has passed on to his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy; brother, Thomas; and granddaughter, Kristal. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Barb (Tom) Kniff; sons, Jay (Rhonda) Nelson, Adam (Stacey) Nelson; grandchildren, Ashlee Nelson, Amy Nelson; great-grandchildren, Vicktoria, Luna, Daemon, Kayden, Leviticus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 am at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming, with Pastor Jay Nelson officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday an hour prior to the service at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Boy Scouts of America.
