Donald Mathews

December 3, 1958 ~ April 8, 2025

Donald Mathews, 66, of Ada, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Don was a man who lived life with passion and dedication. Born and raised in the area, he graduated from Lee High School and went on to build a successful career at Amway, where he worked as a pressman and other skilled trade roles for over 30 years. His hard work and commitment were admired by all who knew him. Don had a deep love for sports, particularly NASCAR and Notre Dame football, where he was an avid fan. He cherished the thrill of the races and the excitement of the games, often sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. Don’s love for his family was equally profound. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debi Scholar; children, Nicole and Tom Sterk, Laurynn and Richard Gould, Justin Scholar and Morella Bai; his beloved grandchildren, Kinley Sterk, Bryson Sterk,  Elliot and Evelynn Gould; his father and stepmother, Charles and Audrey Mathews; sisters, Pam VanLaan, Denise (John) Graham, Cheryl (Tom) Fialek, Sally Jo Fordham; brother, Bryan (Janet) Mathis; niece, Amanda and Aaron Verhagen (Ava, Quinn, and Tristan); nephew, Derek Lapham; and his cherished cat, Faith. Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Jean and brother, Bobby Mathews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mecosta, MI. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 12 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of West Michigan
