Doris TeBos

Doris Jeanne (Sjoerdsma) TeBos, age 90, of Sunset Manor in Jenison, was carried into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kerwin in 2009; grandson, Jamie in 1980; grandson, Matthew McDonald in 2018; brothers, Thomas Sjoerdsma, James Sjoerdsma; and sister, Alberta Hoekwater. She is survived by her children, Jim and Marilyn TeBos, Kathy and Dan Miedema, Bob and Jill TeBos; grandchildren, Jason and Lisa TeBos, Lynell and Jeremy Johnson, Leah TeBos, Jordan and Whitney TeBos, Andrew and Amanda Miedema, Heather and Brian DeJong, Ryan and Leslie Miedema, Chris and Sara TeBos, Alex and LeighAnn TeBos, Nick and Erin TeBos, Audrey TeBos; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Herman and Ardy Sjoerdsma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kay and Nelson Rottman, Janice Stuit, Norma and Thomas Koetje. Doris had a dream as a young person to someday be a teacher and she fulfilled that dream by teaching at Christian schools in Vogel Center, Jenison, and Byron Center, Michigan, for over 30 years. She was passionately involved in the Gems program at her church for many years and in her later years she volunteered to mentor young students at The Potter’s House in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist and organist and continued to accompany groups and choirs and play the organ at church worship services until she was well into her 70’s. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, at 11 a.m. at Fairway Christian Reformed Church, 1165 44th St., Jenison, with Rev. Jeremy Rhodes officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Potter’s House in memory of Doris.
