Douglas Steketee

August 29, 1951 ~ January 30, 2025

Douglas Lee Steketee, age 73, has walked confidently, peacefully, and fearlessly from this life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 30, 2025. After an eighteen-year struggle with Parkinson's Disease, he has been restored and made whole again to be his active self. Loving his family, serving others and living a life of strong faith will be his legacy. He was preceded in death by his infant son, John Edward; parents, Cap and Connie Steketee; sister and brother-in-law, Carrol and Wayne Grabill; brother, Bruce Steketee; and parents-in-law, Ed and Gladys Streelman. Missing him and cherishing his memory are his wife, Mary Steketee; children, Anna (Jay Peterson), Dan and Holly; grandchildren, Rylie Mae, Sylvia Marie, Winston Daniel, Calvin Duane; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Barb Steketee; sister-in-law, Wil Steketee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Terri Streelman, Carol and Don Wiersma, Paul and Jane Streelman; and many well-loved nieces and nephews. His family will never find enough words and ways to say thank you to the Faith Hospice team and staff of Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Community for their loving, tender care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 3, at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, with Pastor Brent Beckett officiating. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 2, from 2-5 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service at the church.
