Eleanor Kay Tamminga, age 84, of Hudsonville, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She graduated from South Christian High School and Calvin College. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family will lovingly remember her practical, biblical example and the way she instilled the love of the Lord in their hearts. She was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church. Eleanor loved to go for drives and enjoyed collecting dolls. She was quick-witted, generous, selfless, and had a heart for helping others. She was a school teacher for three years and then worked for the United States Postal Service for 25+ years. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Luke” Tamminga; son, Brian Tamminga; daughter, Lisa Kamps; great-grandson, Visser Jonathon Wassink; siblings, Dr. Bernard (Nella) Kreuzer, Gloria (Bob) DeBruin, Fred Kreuzer, Dr. Richard (Doris) Kreuzer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill (Hazel) Tamminga, Jess (Gerrit) DeBoer, Al Tamminga, Jim (Lyda) Tamminga, George (Henrietta) Tamminga, Wilma (Jerry) Van Leeuwen, William Dekker. She will be dearly missed by her sons, Todd Tamminga; Tim (Kristin) Tamminga; son-in-law, Paul Kamps; grandchildren, Dustin Tamminga, Shelby Lisa (Jared) DenHartigh, Jaimee Tamminga, Levi Tamminga, Travis (Markay) Kamps, Tyler (Bethany) Kamps, Lexi (Tyler) Wassink, Luke Kamps, Dylan Kamps, Darla Kamps, and Colton Kamps; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Roderick (Evonne) Kreuzer; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Millie Dekker, Joel Tamminga, Dorothy Tamminga; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Don Van Slyke officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 14, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Right to Life of Michigan.
