Gary Doxey Sr, age 66, of Grand Rapids passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 2, 2021. Gary was an over the road truck driver for Grand Rapids Transport for over 30 years. He enjoyed frequently attending races at Martin and Stanton racetracks which inspired him to build his own ‘71 Camaro with his son Gary Lee. He was a collector of many genres of movies, also an avid collector of eagle figurines and diecast racecars. If he wasn’t on the road, he was spending as much time as he could with his family. You could also often find him at the 76th Street Diner annoying the waitresses with his friends. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Tammy and Jeff Trost, Jeremy and Stephanie Doxey, Jordan and Rachel Baughman; grandchildren: Marcus, Logan, Zach, Gavin, Aiden, Hudson; two brothers and one sister; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Doxey; and his son, Gary Lee Doxey Jr. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming, with Pastor Mike Ramsey officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Gary Lee Doxey Jr. In memory of Gary, please wear your favorite pair of jeans.
