Gene Anne Tubergen

August 15, 1943 ~ February 21, 2022

Gene Anne Tubergen, age 78, of Jenison went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 21, 2022. Gene loved and cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren who she called her “treasures.” She loved taking annual trips to Myrtle Beach with her husband, Jack, and family. Devotion to her faith was important; she was a parish member at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where she enjoyed serving and teaching the RCIA meetings and classes. She will be missed for her love of Elvis music and collecting seashells, her cooking and compassion for others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Angie Parente, and in-laws, Mort and Jeanette Tubergen. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Jack; son, Scott (Adam); daughter, Julie (Tom) Doyle; grand-treasures, TJ (Brittany), Tyler (Paige), Timmy (Paige), and Taylor; nine great-grand-treasures, Bentley, Addison, Scarlet, Ellie, Lacey, Helena, Tommy, Levi, Gabriella; many cousins, and best friend, Louise Saladino. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 24, at 10 AM at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming, with Father Colin J. Mulhall officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 7-9 pm for a memorial gathering at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Father Flanagan’s Boy’s Town.

I was also a member of Gene's RCIA class at Holy Redeemer, back in 2013. Gene's dedication to her ministry and her passion for her mission have never left me. I think of her often and she will always have a special place in my heart. Go rest high on that mountain, Gene. I have faith that we will see each other again.

Gene helped guide us through an RCIA class a number of years ago. We will always remember her kindness and quick wit. May her family find joy in their remembrance of her and peace for their sorrow during this difficult time.
