Glen Roberts

June 6, 1939 ~ March 19, 2024

Glen Alan Roberts, age 84, of Grandville, formerly of Gaylord and Detroit, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Glen was a devoted Christian, was very involved in his church, and was a supporter of Christian schools. He loved his family immensely and cherished the time he spent with them. Glen enjoyed reminiscing and was known for his storytelling and sense of humor. He was also an avid Detroit Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers fan and “enjoyed” watching them along with documentaries and old Western movies. As an avid sports fan, the highlight of his year was being the “Commissioner” of his family’s March Madness Bracket. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Roberts-Austin. Glen is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Judy (Schewe) Roberts; daughters, Donna (Eric) Woodfin, Kristin (Todd) Arbaugh, and Jennifer (Michael) Hogan; grandchildren, Jordyn (Riley) McCartney, Jessica (Logan) Ernst, Andrew Woodfin, Madison Woodfin, Nathan Arbaugh, Jace Hogan, Braden Arbaugh, Mia Woodfin, and Jett Hogan; great-grandchildren, Blaise and Cassian McCartney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Andrea Schewe, Sue and Dave Sheldon; many nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Patrick Rourke. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Steve Woodfin officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran High School Association (1100 Bagley Ave., Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309) or Grandville Calvin Christian Schools “From One Generation to the Next” Campaign.

Glen What a guy. His love of the Lord showed through everything he did. He loved Judy. Soft spoken and a man of wit and dry humor. A man to look up to. A man who played games only at Judy’s request. He loved sports and great old movies. Goes without saying: He loved the Lord He loved and was very proud of his girls and their families. Worked for his Savior Jesus Christ. Amen and Amen.

Glen was a true gentleman and a great guy to be around. Taught me much while we were Michaywe neighbors. Our prayers go out for him and Judy and his entire family.

Glen was not only a neighbor here in Gaylord, he was a friend, and co-worker in Christ at our church (E-free). We have missed Glen and Judy since they moved, and now we rejoice in knowing that Glen is with his Lord and Savior.
