Harold Daane Potgeter

Harold Daane Potgeter, age 81, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Daane was a hard worker and retired after 31 years at Steelcase. He was a man of few words but will be remembered for his love for his family and grandchildren. Some of Daane’s favorite pastimes were going fishing and taking trips to the family cottage up-north. He loved gardening and taking special care of his vehicles and tractors. Daane and his wife, Bea, cherished doing everything together. He will be missed by his family for his heart after God, his humble character, and compassion for others. He was preceded in death by parents, John (Janet) Potgeter; father and mother-in-law, Joe (Rebecca) Snip; special grandson, Christopher John; brothers and sister-in-law, Clyde (Louise) Spencer, Helen (Melvin) Merritt, Arthur Langerak, and Don (Mary) Snip. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice “Bea” (Snip) Potgeter; children, MaryLou Potgeter and Ricky (Jodi) Potgeter; grandchildren, Brandon and Kailee; brother, Arlan (Dorothy) Potgeter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Edna) Snip, Ruth Langerak, Bertha (Bob) Timmer; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. with Pastor Ken Kruithoff officiating. Burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, June 2 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home as well as for an hour prior to the service on Friday.
