On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the Lord gathered James Koole to Himself. He was the beloved husband of Gladys (Hoekstra) and a faithful father and grandfather. James was a loyal employee of Kalsbeek Plumbing for 48 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gladys; children, Stephanie (Matt) De Boer, Sarah (Matt) Kortus, Peter Koole, Rachel (Mike) Cnossen, Leah (Joe) Vanden Toorn, Rebecca (Gord) Tolsma, David Koole, Monica Koole, Lydia (Jared) Bosveld and Tyler (Lisa) Koole; 29 grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Pat) Koole, Ken (Pat) Koole, Kathy (Jim) Vander Kolk, Ron (Sherry) Koole, Tim (Tresa) Koole; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pauline (Brian) Kroese, Linda (Henry) Kamps, Harlan (Lenora) Hoekstra, Vern (Kari) Hoekstra, Mark (LaBeth) Hoekstra, Mary (Jeff) Kalsbeek, Rose (Jeff) Andringa, Patty (Barry) Pollema. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Josie Koole; and his parents-in-law Henry and Hildred Hoekstra. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Hope Protestant Reformed Church, 1580 Ferndale Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534 with Pastor Jonathan Mahtani officiating. The burial will take place at River Bend Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, August 5, from 5-9 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hope Protestant Reformed Christian School.
