Jane Susan Cole

April 17, 1945 ~ October 2, 2021

Jane Susan Cole passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior on October 2, 2021. She was 76. Preceding her in death were her parents, Crawford and Joyce Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Maryann Smith; brother-in-law, Vern Young; sister-in-law, Esther Pizaña; special friend, Lester Williams; and beloved son, Jason Gregory Cole. She leaves to cherish her memory three loving sons, Steven (Marla) Cole and Joshua Cole, both of Kentwood, MI, and Justin (Sughey) Cole of Grand Rapids, MI; ten grandchildren whom she adored, Steven Cole II, Aaron Cole, Devan Cole, Dante and Noah DeVriendt, Kylee and Carter Murawski, Olivia Reben, Caleb Cole and Sophia Cole; one brother, Dan Smith of Winter Haven, FL; and two sisters, Patty Young of Seattle, WA, and Nancy (Scott) Thornton of Wyoming, MI. Jane is also survived by her special cousin, Pat Smith, and her loving uncle, Chester Smith, as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends whom she loved very much.

Jane graduated from Grand Rapids’ South High School in 1963 and later studied cosmetology at Jordan Cosmetology Academy in Grand Rapids, MI. She was blessed with the gift of cooking and loved to share her talents with her family, especially during the holidays. She always enjoyed time spent with family and was caring and affectionate with her love shown to them. Jane worked in the medical billing field for many years and later in her life she volunteered for several years at Endeavor Elementary in Kentwood, where she assisted students with their reading lessons. Jane will be remembered most for her smile, her laugh and the immediate familiarity she had with anyone she met.

A memorial celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. Pastor Artie Lindsay of Tabernacle Community Church will officiate her celebration of life. Jane’s family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to Saturday’s service.
