Joel A. Wagner

May 26, 1976 ~ February 13, 2024

Joel A. Wagner, age 47, of Grandville, accomplished his goal to be with his Jesus on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. His father, Jim Wagner, preceded him in death as well as his grandparents, Adrian and Janet Mohr, and Milton and Connie Wagner. Joel leaves behind the family he loved so much: his mother, Shirley Wagner; sisters; Jennifer and Tom Vanden Bosch, Jodi and Tim Koster; nieces and nephews, Nicole and Cameron Minney, Nathan Vanden Bosch, Lauren Koster, and Anna Koster; great-niece and great-nephew, Eleanor Minney, and Henry Minney; uncles and aunts, Dick and Arlene Mohr; Dave Wagner, Bob and Idelle Wagner; and many cousins. Joel loved to watch his Jesus movies and sing along to the music of The Oak Ridge Boys. He also enjoyed his summer job mowing his sister’s lawn. Joel was a big MSU fan, always wearing a green and white MSU t-shirt. His firm handshake will be missed by many. A time of visitation with his family will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Following a private service, burial will be held at Grandville Cemetery. “Jesus loves me, this I know. I love Jesus, this He Knows.”

Joel and I greeted each other every Sunday morning for many years, without fail he said three things each time. " We are going to see Jesus, He was born to die and we will see Him face to face". It's wonderful to think of Joel experiencing these things in the glories of heaven praising his Savior all the day long.

I remember with fondness joyful Joel at the Christian Learning Center when i was a teacher aide with Miss Dyke, Miss Bonnema, Miss Bandstra and Miss Veenstra. What a glorious reunion that will be in heaven. Joel brought smiles and the love of Jesus to many. Blessing. Shirley Snoeyink

My condolences to the family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of getting to know Joel and supporting Joel through IKUS Life Enrichment Services. Even though I was in the supporting role for Joel, he did more for me than he could ever imagine. The Oak Ridge Boys will always be on my play list. Joel will always be in my heart forever. I will miss you buddy. Rest in peace.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Joel! I will never forget his smiling face. Every time he came into McDonald’s in Jenison and I was working I would always make it a point to say hello to him because I knew it made his day.
