Jose Mancilla

August 26, 1933 ~ September 30, 2024

Jose E. Mancilla passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born and raised in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico. After coming to Michigan, he met and married his wife, Dolores, of 60 years. Jose was the quintessential example of hard work and dedication to family. His work ethic was unparalleled, often working long hours to ensure the comfort and security of his family, whom he loved deeply. He was always extending a helping hand to family and friends, never turning away those who needed him. Jose was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; and his daughter, Frances. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Josefina Mancilla, James and Rhonda Mancilla, Maria Espinoza, Dalfina and James Storm, Joe Mancilla and Terri Kooienga, Adam Mancilla, Fernado Jose Windemuller; sisters, Cecilia, Maria, Luisa, Beda, Escolastica; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke University Parish, 10144 42nd Ave., Jenison, with Fr. Rob Mulderink presiding. The burial will be held at Robinson Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, October 4, from 6-8 p.m. with the Rosary being prayed at 8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Memorial contributions in Jose’s name may be made to the Hospice of your choice.

There are no words for Jose's legacy in our family. So many of us would not be where we are today without him. He was an amazing person who led a remarkable life. We are forever grateful and feel lucky to have been a part of his family. May we find strength and solace in our shared memories. May God rest his soul.
