June Everett, age 89, of Caledonia, formerly a lifelong resident of Pontiac and Oakland County, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. June graduated from Pontiac HS in 1952, then went on to graduate from CMU with a bachelor’s degree in early education in 1956. . She was an elementary school teacher for several years. June was formerly married to Walter Crowson DDS, with whom she had one daughter, Jony. She had a lifelong affiliation with the 1st Presbyterian Church of Pontiac. In her early years she volunteered her time at the William Beaumont Hospital at Royal Oak, as well as the Literacy Council of Oakland County and the Pontiac Public Schools. She was a generous soul with a heart of gold who regularly gave to organizations benefiting veterans, Special Olympics, and special needs school programs. She made and designed handcrafted holiday cards for those she loved. She was an avid dog lover, and a fan of Hallmark movies and romance novels. June appreciated kindnesses shown to her by those who either saw through or worked through her “spiky” nature, to appreciate the loving heart she had.
She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Everett; parents, Merle and Orpha Voss; siblings, Virginia “Bunny” Voss, her twin sister, Jo Van Boven; and her beloved nieces, Lynda, Julie, Diane, and Michelle Van Boven.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jony (Paul) Murphy; grandson, Sean (Nina Zook M.D.) Murphy; nephews, Gregory (David Beck) Van Boven, Andrew Van Boven; brother-in-law, Sam Van Boven; and others who loved her.
Relatives and friends may meet the family from 11 am to 1 pm on Sunday, May 5 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia. Those who wish may make memorial contributions are directed to the Furniture Bank of Southeast Michigan or to Michigan Special Olympics.
