Kathleen J. Kaufman, age 84, of Newaygo, fell
asleep peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 16, 2021. Kathleen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed spending time traveling with her husband on their Harley Davidson and was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers. Kathleen especially loved spending time with her family and gave her love unconditionally. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kaufman; parents, Louis and Mildred Hoekstra; sister, Lois DeForest; and brother, Robert Hoekstra. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dan Newhouse, Lori and Douglas LaFave, Michael Newhouse, Kimberly Bell, Julie and Lynn Reed, Tammy and Jay DeVries; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Bonnie and Don Beaulieu; sisters-in-law, Alice and Jim Uplinger, Nancy and Larry Travis, Judy Hoekstra; and several nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont, with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 11-12 at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
