Kay Lynn Dion, age 77, of Caledonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 29, 2025, of Alzheimer’s disease.
Kay was born in Muskegon on March 19, 1947, to Frederick and Phyllis Breuninger. Kay lived most of her life in the metro area of Grand Rapids, West Michigan although she was a California girl at heart. She was a graduate of Mona Shores High School. Kay was the second of four sisters. Her family shaped the loving, caring, genuine woman Kay was to become. Kay married the love of her life, Daniel Pierre Dion on April 2, 1966. They were the proud parents of two boys, Eric and Marc. Kay loved her husband, family and friends dearly.
Kay was kind to all, a constant learner, avid reader and leader. She spent much of her life raising and corralling three boys (Dan included). Kay leapt into each day with enthusiasm, vigor, and anticipation for what could be in store. Be it helping a friend, caring for her children or grandchildren, leading professionally or milling about with Dan, she loved to be engaged in the moment. She cared for her community by volunteering her time as a leader and active member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for more than 16 years. While she had many hobbies, such as reading, sailing, sewing, gardening, crochet, travel, running and hiking, she found extreme joy in collecting natures trinkets with her family, spending time with God, taking afternoon naps and eating ice cream with Dan. A proud mother to the end, Kay enjoyed learning and sharing life’s wonders. She lived her life’s purpose by being a curious discoverer with everyone.
Kay influenced many lives through her leadership positions at Trinity Health, Advantage Health, Specialist in Family Medicine, Family Care, and Rockwell International. She owes much of her success to being a self-starter. Her desire to grow herself and others exemplified her leadership. When she was not working, she led her family with that same desire.
Kay’s leadership afforded her a life of adventure and exploration, full of laughs and sharing with others. Her legacy will live on through her family. May God continue to bless her for eternity. If Kay could talk to you today, she would tell you to “go places and do stuff” and “have fun!”
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Barbara (Mike) and Melissa (Kris); sons, Eric (Peggy), and Marc (Tiffany); grandchildren, Ben (Lindsay), Asia, Sam (McKinzie), Jessica Steffes (Phil), Noah, Sarah, Taylor, Max, Jonah, Raven, Tucker and Marc Jr.; great grandchildren, Lucian, Piper, and Porter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; parents, Frederick and Phyllis and sister, Pamela.
