Vern, he had a great personality, funny and just a great guy to know. When I was 17, I told Vern, and I also wrote it on a piece of paper that I would never get married or would never have any kids. Five years later, when I got married, Vern still had that piece of paper, he framed it, and gave it to me as a wedding gift. I still have that framed piece of paper in my box of memories. I have been married for 31 years and my wife and I had four kids. I’m sure Vern is having a good laugh! Vern and Nancy were great people. My biggest regret is not keeping up with them over the last several years. I know that Vern had a great Welcome with some good friends that went before him. I will always cherish those great memories of when I was a kid, our days at Fairhaven Church, and how much he met to our family. Please know that I will be praying for Nancy and the family. With much love and respect, Mike Nitz
