Great-uncle Leo shines in my memory. He showed a dedication to family with his time and open arms. Both the clattering of fishing gear inside an aluminum boat and the calm glug glug from the Acker Lake water still resonate. More than anything, I can still hear that deep baritone responding with a favored phrase. "Well -- Is that right? Yeah." Hugging you right back, Ryan Thomas, a grandson of Virginia (Hartwell) Batog

Jim, Sue and Laura: I'm so very sorry for the great loss of your father. He was a sweet neighbor as we grew up and raised some fine kids! May your memories bring you much comfort over the next few days, week and year of firsts without him. Much love Carole
