Lorraine Beatrice Lancaster “Amah,” age 92, of Grand Rapids, was born on June 17, 1932 and died peacefully at home on Monday, November 25, 2024. Lorraine was known as a gifted storyteller and children’s librarian for Comstock Park Schools. She was also a woman of great faith who taught Sunday school for 50 years at her church. She loved reading, gardening, and traveling, especially with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; son-in-law, Terry Tock; grandsons: Nicholas and Tony Ruberto. She is already missed by her children, Rev. Jan Lancaster, Liane Lancaster, Mark Lancaster, and Lee Ann Darling (Brian); grandchildren Rory Lancaster (Molly), Ryan Lancaster (Betsy), Tina Ruberto, Geoff Tock (Charissa Chan), Erin Korb (Andrew), Evan Lancaster (Alexandra Darland), and Jared Lancaster (Bethany Novascone); great grandchildren Lilli, Gavin, Zander, Vinny, Aiden, Gaius, Caspian, Isaiah, Sonia, Faith, Nora, and Ezra; sister-in-law, Donna Kooiker; brother-in-laws: Duane (Arlene) Lancaster, Don (Marilyn) Lancaster; many nieces and nephews; and beloved caregivers Joan Gelbuda, Carmen Schierbeek, Robin Janulis, and Dawn Cheikh.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4301 Ambrose NE, Grand Rapids with Rev. Jeremy Williams officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
