Mackenzie Boyer

May 12, 1994 ~ November 12, 2023

Mackenzie Boyer, age 29, of Grand Rapids and previously from Lake Orion, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Rachel; parents, Michael and Leandrea Boyer; sister and brother-in-law, Micah and Levi Pollack; niece, Annaleigh; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Megan Harley; and sister-in-law, Becca Harley. Mac was an Occupational Therapist, as is his wife. He was just starting a career that allowed him to utilize his compassionate heart to help others. He was an avid soccer player and played on teams with Rachel and his father-in-law, Mike. Mac was invested in treating his body as a temple and loved to ride his bike off-road and lift weights. He used those muscles for other fun tasks like making his home with Rachel a place they could be proud of. Mac will be missed by friends, family, his dog, Maggie, and kitty, Sharon. But he would want everyone he loves to remember him as the witty, strong, funny, beautiful, caring person he was. And to live each day to the fullest. He loved his family fiercely and let them know that daily. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to NAMI West Michigan or Special Olympics Michigan.

Mac I miss your smile and quick wit already. I still remember your Mom and Dad calling us when you were born. Your Dad also shared many stories of your athletic talent in Football, Soccer and Wrestling. You just seemed to have a natural talent for athletics. Later I watched you graduate, pursue your career, meet an awesome girl, buy a house and get married. Even though that all was impressive the thing I was most impressed with was that you became such a caring person. My favorite memory of you was when I helped you replace the battery in your car. We had some good conversations and you shared some of your dreams with me. Mac I don't know why you were taken away from us so soon. I dont thing that is something I can ever understand. However, I do know I have a huge hole torn through my heart right now. I have been thinking a lot of how I will fill that empty hole. So, I have decided that I am going to fill that hole by loving and helping others in your honor. Mac I will never forget your laugh, smile and the good times. Miss you.

Mackenzie you are loved and missed deeply. I will forever miss your smile, the twinkle in your eye, your laugh and wit and that sweet heart. I will cherish the memories from Boyer campouts, Boyer Christmases (your singing) to the little moments as well. Talking therapy shop with you, accidentally putting you in a regular diaper to swim (sorry about that). I will forever keep you in my heart. My heart is with you Rachel, Mike, Leandrea, Micah and Levi.

Mac, thank you for all of the laughs and good times. I will always cherish the times we had together. My favorite memories are riding bikes together and playing that crazy charades game. I'll never forget the weirdest things you would come up with during charades, how much you would kick my butt on the trails, or the fun amount of dog treats you had in your pockets for Mags. I hope to see you again one day, my friend.
