After 24 years of life and a recent two-year struggle, Madyson “Maddy” Van Beek unexpectedly went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Maddy was an important member of the Van Beek family, commonly known in the community as Team Maddy. She’s completed hundreds of races and triathlons across Michigan and her impact has been felt worldwide. Her favorite parts were being outdoors, feeling the wind in her face, hearing loud music in her speakers (probably Rascal Flatts), and listening to the crowd cheer along the way. Maddy enjoyed connecting with friends at Lincoln Developmental Center. She might argue that her favorite parts were the bus rides to and from as well as the car rides to and from the UP to spend time outdoors, quadding or watching campfires with her family. Maddy has influenced more lives than can be counted, doing things that no one thought could be done. She was a hero.
Madyson was preceded in death by many family members and friends. She is survived by her uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents and immediate family including her parents, Rick and Mary Van Beek along with her sister, Rachel and brother, Hunter. Private services will be held at a later date.
