Marilyn Jean Duperron of Grand Rapids, MI, aged 68, entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 leaving behind a legacy of love for her children and grandchildren. Marilyn was born January 21, 1953 to Emery and Mildred (Stein) Duperron in Taylor, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Mildred; brothers, Larry, Skip, Paul, and Dennis; as well as her beloved cockatiel of 29 years, Gandolf the Grey.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Katie (Nate) and Angela; siblings, Barb, Sharon (Frank), David (Pat), Timothy (Linda), Linda (Durk); grandchildren, Corcoran, Owen, Jaiden, Macy, Lainey, Harper, and Morgan; many beloved nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was a Master Gardener, active with the Michigan State Extension Grand Ideas Garden; she enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. After retiring from her job of over 30 years with Vention Medical, she found her passion in volunteering at the MSU gardens, Aldersgate UMC and with Meals on Wheels delivering food to the home bound, as well as teaching others about gardening and nature. Marilyn also recently had the chance of a lifetime to visit her dream state of Alaska. This was a trip she dreamed about and planned for many years!
Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont, MI. Marilyn’s family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marilyn’s name to the MSU Grand Ideas Gardens, Aldersgate Church, or to an education fund for her grandchildren. Online condolences can be left on the funeral home website at stegengafuneralchapel.com.
Marilyn was my Meals on Wheels delivery person. I’m honored to have gotten to know her a little. Each Wednesday as she stocked my refrigerator with food for the week we would talk about her grandkids and our mutual love for plants. Without fail she would bring my pup treats as well. She was a kind and thoughtful person that always brightened up my day. Thank you Marilyn.
