Marilyn Margaret Uren

May 17, 1931 ~ November 21, 2022

Marilyn M. Uren, aged 91, formerly of Vestaburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2022. She was born to John and Ann Vonderheide in Chicago, IL. She met the love of her life, Richard Uren, at a roller rink in Paw Paw, MI, and then settled in Vestaburg, MI where they raised their two children at nearby Rock Lake. Marilyn loved God and was a devout Roman Catholic. She loved beautiful things: flowers, painting (she painted landscapes and still life), reading, music, and conversation. Marilyn loved caring and doting over her mother “Granny” throughout her mom’s post-retirement years — an act that would later be returned in kind by friends, neighbors, and relatives. Marilyn will be remembered for her love for her family, her giving nature, her childlike innocence, her “gift of gab,” and her natural inclination to give a kind word or compliment to anyone and everyone she encountered. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Richard; and her brothers, John, Donald and William Vonderheide. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vicki Loren, Richard “Rick” Uren; grandson, Colin (Chelsea) Uren; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Emma; sister, Kathryn Hauser; sister-in-law, Sharon Vonderheide; and 9 loving nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service was held at Richland Township Cemetery. A memorial gathering to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Vestaburg Church of Christ (7289 Avenue B, Vestaburg, MI 48891). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to Faith Hospice at https://faithhospicecare.org/donate

Marilyn will always be fondly remembered by me, my parents, and my brother and sisters. Her laugh filled a room, her teeth trick caused shrieks of laughter by us children, and her and Dick's care and welcoming of our young family was deeply appreciated. I can remember many a day sitting on a stool after school and watching Marilyn create in her kitchen. Marilyn and her entire family are in our prayers. Sending love and peace, Amede
