Martha Marie Bloem

Martha Marie Bloem, age 82, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Martha’s legacy lives on in her family. It was her passion to raise her children and support them in many ways. Together with her husband, they also ran an adult foster care home in Newaygo. She cherished the simplicity of life, gardening and canning. She also enjoyed traveling to visit family in Florida. Martha will be greatly missed for her love for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eva Peterson, brothers, Harold Peterson, Dave Peterson and sisters, Bernice Peterson, Helen Cook, and Gladys VanBeek. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, George; children, Teresa (David Zumwalt) Bloem, Cheryl (Vaden) DeJarnette, Fred (Karrie Monroe) Bloem; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lois Bloem, Stanley Peterson, Orpha Bates; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, September 26, 2022 at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming, with Deacon Wilder officiating. Burial will take place at Kent Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday for an hour prior to the service.
